Picky, picky!  LOL!

Acually, now that I think about it, he kinda reminds me of the silly goo balls in World of Goo.  Only yellow and drooling.  It's  a silly game that I've found to be highly entertaining after a shot of quality rum.

Sounds like amazing progress guys. Wow, all that stuff done?! Fantastic work. I can't help wondering now if there's a rough target date in mind.

Yes, it sounds much but there

Yes, it sounds much but there is still a ton of work. But i believe we're making good progress. Currently our team has about 14 members, but there is a huge difference between how many members we have and how many are working on it currently. In average i would say 4/5 people are working more or less constantly on the game beside the fact most of us have regular jobs or studying. So, with that in mind i'm very happy with the progress we make.

Rough target date? Well, that's really hard to say, also in reference about the things i said before, you never know how many are available to help. I know some rumors going around for a 2016 release. I wouldn't count on that.

Considering you're not paid

Considering you're not paid for this, I'd say it's excellent work.  And I'm still amazed at what goes into making, editing, and now remastering, a video game.  The overall time input by the team must be an enormous sum.

Always exciting to see an update guys, thanks!

In the meantime our team has also started working on the gameplay for an internal demo, to be sure everything works stable as expected. Our goal is to have 3-4 locations fully playable in early April, including interactions, fmv, puzzles, conversations/ask abouts...

Any chance these playable locations will be made available for fans to try out??? cheeky

When we got the rights from BFG to make this game, i was highly surprised about almost none restrictions, the only restriction we have, that we can not publish any playable aspect of the game until they say it's ok. And i'm totally fine with that.

So you have to ask Chris i guesswinklaugh

I agree BFG has been very accommodating, and I think your team has handled it very well too. Also, I couldn't imagine you releasing anything to the public without first passing it by Chris and the team at BFG. It just wouldn't fit with the Tex community. smiley

Fantastic work. At the beginning I was just thinking it would just be a port for newer machines not a full fledged remake! Take your time and I hope to see this up on Steam and Gog in the future.

WOW!!!  Incredible demo guys!

WOW!!!  Incredible demo guys! Really, it's absolutely amazing. Your hard work is certainly showing.

Now, I really hate to bring this up, but I did notice some errors in the text, both grammar and spelling. I do realise you are working tremendously hard, and there is never enough time. However, I do hate to see such truly amazing work spoiled (even a little bit) by little issues like grammar and spelling. You are obviously aiming for perfection — and it really shows. That said, I am prepared to help out with the text. If you would like another set of eyes to vet the text, even if it's only as a last triple check, please, just PM me.

Woot-woot!

Absolutely awe inspiring!  The little details that were never there before for exploring is fun to poke around it.  My funny-bone tickled over the underwear drawer comment too.  A walk-in bedroom closet is a nice touch!  Can't say enough about how cool this endeavor is turning out.

I sure hope any legalities can be ironed out and you ALL will make something back for your efforts .  Maybe even put up on GOG and Steam?  I don't know the details for that sort of problem, and I don't imagine I want to know.  I've been trying to keep up with you all on this project, but I don't recall if you are running into any brick walls regarding legal aspects.

Anyways, when you are at a good point for word out to the masses, I'll be sure to shout out to all my fellow Star Wars nerds about these awesome Tex Murphy games and the newly revamped Overseer.

Impressive!

I wanted to echo the words of my fellow mutant companions. The Demo is a real feast for the eyes and it shows tremendous potential. This kind of quality would not have anything to be ashamed of when compared to commercial products.

My thanks to the whole team and the biggest good luck with the next steps in the project!

O...M...G...!  I think I just peed a little cheeky  That was f'ing beautiful guys.  The attention to detail is just amazing (traffic lights through the blinds gave me chills)  I've played all the games multiple times but feels like a whole new one and thats just seeing 1 location!  I hope the same can be done for Pandora and UaKM some day!

If they gave you chills

If they gave you chills turbo, I made some code changes after this video was compiled that allowed us to utilise extra lighting effects in this scene, making it look even better.

Well, you'll see more

Well, you'll see more lighting effects from the outside environment coming through the window. It was already there but it was blocked by a overlaying hotspot. Darren made some changes to the main framework and now the lighting effects will ignore the hotspot, which makes it more realistic now.

Can you share what the movement controls now that Tex's office is done?  Are they more like Tesla or UaKM/Pandora?

The Poisoned Pawn will have

The Poisoned Pawn will have movement controls similar to Tesla Effect, with key-bindings for the movement and mouse control for head motion, which is standard nowadays. About the interaction interface, we haven't decided yet.

Thanks!  I think I prefer the Tesla movement controls anyway once I got used to them.  Fingers aren't as dexterous as they used to be so the fewer keyboard bottons needed the better!  cheeky

Wow. Your work is truly

Wow. Your work is truly awesome.

Seeing how you made everything clean, shiny and professional I'm hoping this may mean that you will be able to upgrade the relations with BFG to a partnership where you get proper licensing rights to develop and sell a Tex game and in return share the revenue with BFG.

Don't get me wrong, I love free games as much as the next guy but I would prefer paying for this in order to show my support and hopefully provide some incentive for more future remakes such as this.

Thanks again for doing this, can't wait to play it :)

And Mat - that 1080p experiment looks rad, make it happen!

Steve, you took the words

Steve, you took the words right out of my mouth. Indeed, what a HUGE update!

I've pretty much run out of superlatives with which to describe what you guys have done, and are doing. Every updates things get better. It's astounding really.

OK, now I have to bring up a bit of a downer. I'm really sorry to do it, but my wife said exactly the same thing when I showed her all the update info. It has to do with the 8 minute demo video. What we both noticed is the 'bobbing up and down' when walking. We are hoping this will NOT be part of the final game. While it is true that people move up and down while walking, it is also true that the brain compensates for the movement, so people never notice it in real life. I don't think it brings anything extra to the gameplay and, in reality, only has the potential to irritate or annoy some people, or even make some people seasick. Again, sorry for the detraction, but I felt it was better to mention it now rather than later.

No worries! We are aware of

No worries!

We are aware of this and haven't balanced it right during capturing the gameplay. This will be highly decreased and there will be also an option to turn it on or off.

That is the PERFECT answer.

That is the PERFECT answer. In fact, it's EXACTLY what my wife said: "or an option to turn it off" laugh It really is perfect. Those who want it, go for it; those who don't, no problem. You guys never stop being amazing.

BTW, my only reason for mentioning it is that I want TPP to succeed like gang busters. I can't imagine anyone saying, "Hey, where are the up and down movements while walking?", but I can imagine people (like my wife) saying, "Hey, that's kind of annoying, can I turn it off?". I REALLY don't want it to be a 'sticking point', especially for reviewers. In fact, I would suggest having it off by default or, perhaps, on the first game launch display a side-by-side of action with and without 'bobbing' enabled and have the player select the one they prefer. I hope that's helpful feedback.

Thanks. That's great to hear.

Thanks. That's great to hear. I'm always very reluctant to express negative feelings about a game, but particularly TPP, because it's such a fan-based project; one without the usual budget and ability to hire people to work on it full time. Such sacrifice on the part of you guys is not to be taken lightly. I feel criticism, like your work, has to come from the heart, and needs to be considered carefully before being expressed: it needs to have the same goal you have: to help make the best game possible.

Reading this made me chuckle

Reading this made me chuckle because a) I also noticed the bobbing immediately and thought it was annoying and b) wasn't going to say anything because even if annoying, its microscopic compared to all the awesomeness added to this game!  Plus, while I'm not a fan of first person shooters, the ones I've seen seem to have to have some kind of 'bob' so thought that was normal now...

My only sadness comes from the fact we're still a year away, but its a price worth paying!

I, for one, like the idea of naming the checkbox to turn this feature on/off "Pigeon Mode".

But yes, we have seen this comment multiple times, and wanted to be clear we appreciate everyone's feedback. Being in the Alpha stage, there is definitely LOTS of time and room to make improvements and take feedback on board. We also love that you were passionate enough about the project to be upfront with your concerns. We are here, we are listening, we are willing, and we are excited, so gosh darn it we will do our best to make it work! :)

They only started this in

They only started this in March last year, and now they plan to release it in mid-2017, which would be pretty impressive -- stunning, even -- if they pulled it off.
